A key part of digital dentistry is the use of 3D model scanners. 3D model scanners capture dental models or impressions (negative imprints of a patient’s teeth and gums) in a laboratory setting,using a combination of cameras and light projection before transferring the result to a computer. The model is then converted from physical form to a digitalized 3D model .
